These go in order of difficulty.
1. Sheet A (the sheet with the pictures). Say each word one at a time. Students listen, then they repeat the word out loud, and then they color in the circle for the letter for the short vowel sound they hear in the initial position.
2. Sheet B (the sheet with boxes and a letter in each box). Give students counters (like bingo chips). Say each word one at a time. Students listen, then they repeat the word out loud, and then they place a counter on the letter for the short vowel sound they hear in the initial position.
* I would recommend this sheet if you’re just practicing or doing this with students one-on-one or in a small group.
3. Sheet C (the sheet with lines on it). Say each word one at a time. Students listen, then they repeat the word out loud, and then they write the letter (a,e,i,o, or u) for the short vowel sound they hear in the initial position on the line (just the first letter!)
